Coach Client Relationship.

Agreement

This agreement outlines how the organisation, the coach, and the coachee will work together to create a valuable and effective coaching experience.

Coaching works best when there’s clarity, trust, and shared commitment. This short document explains what to expect and how the organisation can support the process.

1. Purpose of Coaching

Coaching is a developmental partnership focused on supporting the coachee to grow, reflect, and make progress in areas that matter to them and their work. It often explores mindset, behaviour, and leadership capacity, and creates space for the coachee to work on what will make the biggest difference in how they show up.

2. The Organisation’s Role

The organisation plays a critical role in setting the participant up for success. This includes:

  • Providing clarity around the shifts or outcomes the organisation is hoping to see.
  • Creating space for the coachee to attend sessions regularly and without interruption.
  • Recognising coaching as developmental, distinct from performance management or disciplinary processes.
  • Respecting confidentiality and the coachee’s ownership of their own development.
  • Supporting follow-through where coaching outcomes connect with team or business priorities.

3. The Coach’s Role

The Coach will:

  • Provide structured, evidence-based coaching tailored to the coachee’s context and goals.
  • Maintain confidentiality in line with the International Coaching Federation’s Code of Ethics.
  • Create a space that is challenging, supportive, and focused on the coachee’s growth.
  • Share general observations or themes with the organisation only if agreed in advance with the coachee’s consent.

4. Confidentiality

All coaching conversations are confidential between the coach and the coachee. The coach will not share session content with the organisation unless explicitly agreed with the coachee.

If the organisation requests updates, these may take the form of high-level themes, and only with the coachee’s permission.

Exceptions to confidentiality may apply in cases of risk of harm, illegal activity, or legal obligations.

5. Logistics & Terms

  • Coaching will be delivered as outlined in the accompanying proposal (including session format, frequency, and number of sessions).
  • The organisation will be invoiced according to the agreed payment terms.
  • Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged in full.

6. Use of Materials

Any coaching tools, resources, or materials shared during the coaching process remain the intellectual property of the Coach. These may be used by the coachee for their own development but must not be copied, distributed, or shared beyond this engagement without permission.

7. Ending the Engagement

Either party may choose to end the coaching engagement at any time, with notice. Where possible, a wrap-up conversation will be offered to support closure and transition.

8. Disclaimer

Coaching is not therapy, counselling, or performance management. The coach is not liable for decisions made or actions taken by the coachee as a result of the coaching process.
